On my birthday in August of 2022, I married myself. The ceremony was held in the courtyard of my apartment building and many close friends were in attendance. I asked my dearest August McLaughlin to officiate and my roommate, Ali, performed my handfasting and shared some kind words.
The script & vows I wrote for myself are below.
My ring came from Lacee Alexandra, a company which uses "ethical stones and recycled metals whenever possible in our nature inspired jewelry. In addition, each piece of jewelry that you purchase plants one tree." The dress was second hand from Poshmark. My mom went in halvsies with me on the Air Force 1s as my wedding/birthday gift.
After the ceremony we had a potluck and pool party. There was lots of laughter and the group convinced me to jump in the pool in my dress and smush cake in my face.
